Project & Program Management

Across roles, I have managed budgets from ~$10k to ~$1m in both non-profit and academic organizations. Throughout these projects, I have managed the expectations and needs of sponsors, customers, experts, and students. See below for examples of my work in this area.

Working with Customers, SMEs, and Sponsors to Build Training Products

At the COMET Program, I manage and lead individual projects sponsored by NOAA and the Meteorological Service of Canada with budgets from $15k to $200k. I also manage trainings programs for the NOAA National Ocean Service, National Hurricane Center, and NOAA Office of Water Prediction, each comprising a variety of projects with budgets up to $600k. In these projects I have to balance the needs and expectations of our sponsors, customers, and subject matter experts (SMEs), with the capabilities of my teams and the needs of the end users.

Managing an Academic Research Group

At the University of Utah, I brought in NASA- and DOE-sponsored research funding totaling ~$700k, successfully navigating the federal funding process to support my group of research scientists and graduate students. I mentored a number of graduate students through the Masters and PhD process and guided them on research practices and field work.
